Why This Appeal Means So Much to Us
For many families across Tameside, Christmas is a time of worry rather than celebration.
Every day, we work with families facing incredibly difficult circumstances. Some are struggling to afford heating and food, while others are living in temporary or emergency accommodation after fleeing domestic abuse. Many are doing everything they can simply to keep a roof over their children's heads.
For these families, buying Christmas presents is often an impossible luxury.
While children see the excitement of Christmas building around them through school, television, and their local community, many will wake up on Christmas morning without the gifts that so many of us take for granted.
We believe every child deserves to experience the magic of Christmas, regardless of their family's circumstances. That's why we are so passionate about this appeal and why your support can make such a life-changing difference.
How the Appeal Works
Through our Stamford Park Trust network, we work closely with primary and secondary schools across Tameside. School Family Liaison Officers and Safeguarding Teams help us identify children and families who are most in need, ensuring every donation reaches those who need it most this Christmas.
Each year, we support between 50 and 80 families, providing at least 3 to 4 presents per child, from newborn babies through to teenagers.
All donated gifts will be wrapped on Saturday 12 December before being distributed to participating schools on Monday 14 December, allowing parents and carers to place them under the tree and create a special Christmas morning for their children.
